Our Talent Makes the Difference

Daryl Owen is a renowned energy policy expert who began his career as an aide to Senator Bennett Johnston of Louisiana.  In twelve year with the Senate Daryl quickly rose through the ranks, becoming the Senator’s Chief of Staff and the Staff Director of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources.

Daryl’s tenure coincided with one of the most productive periods on energy policy the nation has seen.  He was instrumental in legislation to remove price controls from domestically produced oil and gas, to provide a pathway for safe storage and disposal of nuclear waste, to restructure the electric utility industry, to promote development of the Outer Continental Shelf, and to secure for Louisiana an enhanced percentage of federal royalty revenues produced from the OCS.

In 1991 Daryl founded Daryl Owen Associates, a highly respected government relations and strategic consulting firm focused primarily on energy and the environment.  He remains a force in the energy policy developments unfolding today.  He holds a BA and a JD from Louisiana State University.  He served on the LSU Law Review where he authored “Waste Not, Want Not: The Role of the State in Nuclear Waste Facility Siting.”
